Sources of inspiration and insight can come from many places. While we constantly promote our ability to help our clients improve a specific part of their business, such as improving building maintenance and operations processes, we occasionally learn some things from them as well. We recently undertook a large and relatively complex deployment for a new client and have been thoroughly impressed by their organization skills, attention to detail and disciplined commitment to a defined process. We have long prided ourselves in our internal processes to guide our clients through the deployment process, but we have learned through this experience and the new relationship that there are areas we could improve upon by mirroring our new clients’ approach and some of their practices. We sermonize about the need to not stay satisfied, to look for and embrace ways to get better at everything we do. You can’t be sure where the ideas for doing that will come from, but it can often be right in front of you, from your existing client relationships.
