Operators Can Address Safety Concerns with Optimized Software for Re-Entry
Boston:
Building Engines, the leading provider of building operations software for modern commercial real estate (CRE), today announced it is making available, at no cost, three simplified software modules that are pre-configured to support building reopening efforts during COVID-19. While many CRE owners and operators already rely on building operations software like Building Engines’, this new offering gives quick access to those property teams that don’t yet have a system in place or one that can address COVID-19 use cases.
As occupants are preparing to re-enter their commercial spaces, CRE owners and operators are implementing new procedures and workflows to ensure a safe and responsive reoccupation process and are increasingly looking for solutions that can handle changing guidelines and evolving policies. The new offering by Building Engines is designed to support core aspects of a building operator’s job at this moment and is comprised of these three simplified and pre-configured modules:
- Work Orders: Provides a fixed set of issue types, all related to potential COVID-19 demands. It’s crucial to receive work orders in a timely manner, address them efficiently and keep good records as buildings reopen, especially as some orders may stem from emergency or sensitive situations. This module gives operators the ability to start work quicker and allows tenants to submit work orders from their preferred devices.
- Building Communications: All messages will have a prefix that states the message is COVID-19-related. Not only do owners and operators need to continue to communicate regularly to occupants, but now communication protocols specific to emergencies and relaying new guidelines and safety measures are also a must. It’s important for these urgent communications to be delivered seamlessly and get to the right people in a timely manner.
- Inspections: Provides templates related to COVID-19 and cleaning demands. Inspections may now help ensure that people are wearing masks, that hand sanitizing stations are full, high touch surfaces are regularly cleaned and that buildings and individual office spaces are configured to enable people to maintain a six-foot distance from each other—all new but essential tasks that require inspection.
“Building operations need to evolve rapidly to support tenants and their employees as we all move through the various phases of reopening, from initial reopening and re-entry, which is happening now, to future phases, when pervasive testing and hopefully a vaccine will ease fears and address all additional precautions. Today’s especially complex environment is the reason we’re offering this solution at no cost during this time—it’s more important than ever for CRE operators to have processes and systems in place to instill confidence in their tenants that they are equipped to open and operate a safe and healthy building; we’re happy to be part of the solution” said Tim Curran, CEO of Building Engines.
The Work Order and Building Communications modules are available today and the Inspections module will be available in July. This timely and necessary software will be offered at no cost through the end of 2020.
