“A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway.” – Christopher Reeve
The same can be said about commercial real estate property management teams.
Oftentimes they don’t have the time, the money, people, or resources necessary to overcome incredible obstacles. It isn’t always easy to come up with answers given the circumstances they arrive in.
But somehow some of these folks manage to do it anyway. They overcome, and they provide a solid, safe, and comfortable environment in which to work. And sadly, it often goes unnoticed.
These unsung heroes of commercial property management deserve recognition for their passion, professionalism, and progressive-thinking in the midst of the countless challenges they face at their properties.
That’s why we started the Property Hero Awards. We want to help bring attention to the individuals who are the heart of an ever-changing industry.
Defining a Hero
There are a lot of definitions for the term “hero.”
In fact, “a lot” is an understatement. They’re often known to be courageous, brave, noble, kind, and determined. They are also known to achieve amazing things.
You’re likely familiar with heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-man. You’re definitely familiar with military personnel, fire and life safety personnel like the local police, first responders, and fire departments.
But what is a Property Hero?
-
A Property Hero Embodies Passion
Their job isn’t “just” a job. It’s an opportunity to provide people with the means to succeed and to thrive. They’re participating in the upkeep and well-being of a community, and they put their all into it. Even when other people might not be working!
-
A Property Hero is a Professional
They don’t just dabble in what they do – they dive straight in and excel. Efficiency, organization, communication, courtesy, and strength are all hallmarks of a highly professional individual. If a job needs doing, they do it, and they do it well!
-
A Property Hero is a Progressive-Thinker
It rarely suits a hero to simply “think inside the box.” If they did, they’d miss out on opportunities to expand, explore, and excel! They’re constantly evaluating how they do things, and looking to new ways – and tools – to accomplish their goals more effectively.
You likely have seen a few around your property, even if you don’t know them. But when was the last time you acknowledged them?
